There is an aura of optimism which encompasses the Pomona High School campus in large part to the burgeoning relationship with one of Pomona High School’s most successful sons/alumni Mr. Azeem Victor.
Azeem Victor is a 2013 Pomona HS graduate and a 2017 graduate of the University of Washington. Pomona High School in partnership with Azeem will be implementing Azeem’s Dream Academic Acceleration Homework Program for Athletes. Azeem Victor’s Dream Foundation exists to break the cycle of hopelessness among urban and at risk youth; to show youth that they are not alone and dreams do come true; to help them realize that they can and will succeed regardless of their situation.
The purpose of Azeem Dream Academic Acceleration Homework Program for Athletes is to uplift, encourage and build the confidence of Pomona High School student athletes using education as the foundation. Our goal is improve the GPA’s of the student athletes through structured tutoring/mentoring on Mondays and Wednesdays. We are working closely with the athletic director, coaches from the Football and Basketball programs, Cal Poly, Pomona, Pomona College in Claremont, The National College Resources Foundation and committed teachers who share our vision. Nutritious snacks and drinks will be provided at no cost.
